Irondequoit, N.Y. - If you haven't heard the name Bay Barley, chances are you've at least seen what he's done by now.
Barley's game winning shot for Rush-Henrietta against Greece Athena Saturday night has gone viral.
The video has been seen on 13WHAM highlights along with the number one spot on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
“That's unbelievable,” Barley said.
A day later, that moment still seemed unreal to the senior basketball star.
“It's just a dream come true especially being on SportsCenter. I never thought I'd be on SportsCenter and then to be on the top ten and then to be number one is crazy - it's amazing,” Barley said.
Barley recounts what happened in those final seconds of the game. The score was tied when Barley went up for the rebound.
“As I was dribbling there was a defender on my side, he kind of pushed me a little bit and I tripped over his foot,” Barley said. “And as I fell, I knew to keep my dribble so I could get back up, but when I did, I just shot the ball.”
“As I saw it, I saw the angle, it looked perfect,” Barley said.
“I saw the angle and it looked perfect and I said, ‘oh it's going in’ - we went crazy,” teammate and friend Chancelor Haris said.
The team flooded the court, astonished by the victory.
“It was the best feeling in the world, I was happy for him, the team was happy for him,” Haris said.
When asked if he could do it again, Barley says he's not so sure. But one thing is for sure: when put to the test, he'll do his best to come through for his team.
“There is no secret. If you just put in the work, anything is possible but that type of shot is just unbelievable,” Barley said.
Barley, who’s been playing basketball since he was five years old, says he plans to go to college, but not just to play basketball.
