Rochester, N.Y. - The Rochester City School District is looking to tackle truancy before the school year starts.

In a new program, administrators are focusing on kindergarten through 3rd graders. They hope to reach kids early, and encourage them to come to school on a daily basis.

In addition, school leaders are looking at ways to make education more interactive and enjoyable for students.

The school district estimates 10 percent of students could be truant at any given point during the day, and 50 percent could be truant at some point during the school year.
