Rochester, N.Y. - In the next week we'll learn how much money the Rochester area will receive from the state for economic development.
Next week the state will announce funding for programs to spur business projects.
Last year our region received less money than Syracuse or Buffalo.
The Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council members we spoke with say they're optimistic about Rochester's funding.
”I'm really hopeful it will be different this year,” said U of R President Joel Seligman. “We had a really strong year and got some positive feed back…so hopefully we'll have some great news for the region.”
Seligman says the council has made a commitment to bring 10,000 jobs to this region every year for the next five years.
He hopes this means the state will invest more in Rochester.
