Albany, N.Y. - State Police said a Rochester man who led them on a high-speed, 40-mile police chase died after crashing a stolen car.
Investigators say Ricardo Bernabeu, Jr., 25, of Northview Terrace drove at speeds topping 100 miles per hour early Monday morning.
Troopers said they spotted Bernabeu driving a stolen car just before 5 a.m. When they tried to stop him, they said he sped away, and crashed 20 minutes later when the car skidding off an exit ramp in Albany.
The car was stolen from a gas station in Canastota, about 20 miles east of Syracuse.
Police said this was the second car Bernabeu was accused of stealing. They said he first stole a car in Rochester, which he abandoned in Canastota.
