Rochester, N.Y. – Over 850 athletes will be in Rochester for two days of competition at the Special Olympics Winter Games.
During the two-day event, athletes from Long Island to Buffalo will compete in five Olympic-style events both in Rochester and at Bristol Mountain in Canandaigua. Events include alpine skiing, , Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, figure skating and floor hockey.
The weekend wraps up with the Rochester Polar Plunge at Charlotte Beach Sunday morning. Over $220,000 was raised for events like the Special Olympics Winter Games in last year’s dip into Lake Ontario.
All events during the State Winter Games are free and open to the public.
