SB, Iam off base because I dont want to own a gun? It is our right as a citizen to own a gun by choice I understand that.I dont have a need for one or a desire to have one Iam not saying that you dont have that right. Iam simply asking why would you want to own one? I am trying to see a point of view or learn something about it. Is that off base?

I don't own a gun nor do I want one but I don't think there is anything wrong with having one legally...If you take them away the only ones that will have them will be the criminals and no one will stand a chance...we need them to defend our families against the idiots in the world that use them to get things they don't want to work and earn! I don't care if this kid is 14 or 40...he committed a crime and should be treated as an adult...he knew what he was doing!

Everyone please, stop jumping to conclusions on what happened, Just because a gun was involved, everyone thinks it was an illegal hand gun that was used, And everyone wants to stop the gun trade busines and take all the gun off the street, When some one gets hit by a car and dies from it , driven by a persone with out a valid drivers liesnece that becomes an illegal act, and we dont hear everyone yelling, ( take all the cars off the road ) Its not the Gun, its the persons hand the the gun is in, and maybe just maybe it was a rifle that was used, You don't need a permit for them, I agree with SB1948, I to am a gun owner and also carry a gun for protection, And I also have been trained on how to use it and how to think if I need to use it.Crimes involving guns need harsh swift punishment, And I dont care how old you are, if you deside to pick up a gun and use it in a crime, Than you deserve the full punishment,no deals with the DA, no reduced sentence, and I dont care how nice of a person you are and that everyone liked you, and you were so popular in school, you need to be removed from the puplic, you have just made the worthless waste of skin list, And I dont want to see your mama on the news Crying and telling everyone this, You as a parent have failed, Your kid is a piece of feecies either you lock him up, or the state will. people work hard for what they have, And I'll be dam if I'm going to loose it to some worthless PUNK,

cblue, you are so far off base, I won't even try to explain to you how wrong you are. It would go right over your head.

cblue: you have a right to feel anyway you want to about anything, But I disagree with you, Accidents do not happen to responsible gun owners, Accidents happen when you become over confident and you start relaxing proper care and ownership of your fire arm,

Why do we need guns anyways? I mean other then hunting? Do you feel safer with a gun? I am not being mean or a wise a** but this is how I feel. I really dont understand a need or a desire to want to own one. Even for protection. Accidents happen with responsible people too.

There isn't any quick answer and there might never be one but it is something to think about whilst you go about you daily routine.

Stopping the illegal gun trade is about as easy as stopping the illegal drug trade. I don't know the answers. I carry a concealed gun for personal protection on many occasions where I feel I may need it. I have had training, and of course, I have a permit to carry a gun. I don't advise anyone to just go out, get a permit, then go buy a gun and carry it for protection. You need training in how to handle that gun, when you can use it, and you need to ask yourself, "Am I capable of killing another human being?" You can't wait till you are in a confrontation to decide that! I don't think like a criminal - and don't follow them around - so I am not the one to offer advice on how to keep guns out of criminal hands.

SB1948 - hold on there ranger. I already said I don't own a gun and I admit I don't have any answers. I did say to stop this insanity the gun owners (responsible) should put their heads together to figure out what needs to be done. If you are depending on Senator Gillibrand to do it all by herself you may not like the results.

NO WE DO NOT NEED STRICTER GUN LAWS. There are plenty of gun laws on the books right now. What we need to do is stop the illegal gun trade. New York State has probably the most - or close to it - stringent requirements for getting a legal pistol permit in the country. However, if you don't have a criminal or mental health record, it is nothing more than an inconvenience to obtain a permit. This incident did not happen because a legal gun owner shot at a police officer. It happened because this piece of trash obtained his gun through an illegal source. THAT is what we need to go after. It is much easier and quicker for a criminal on the street to obtain a handgun than it is for a law abiding citizen to get a permit and then register his guns. So, I don't want to see any more posts on here about stricter gun laws, people. You are barking up the wrong tree.
