Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester Police Officers traded in their uniforms and badges, for cleats and mitts at a youth baseball clinic on Saturday.

More than 50 kids from the Rochester Hispanic Youth Baseball Program got lessons in throwing, batting and catching from members of the Police Activities League.

"The officers are out of uniform," said Sgt. William Spath of the Rochester Police Department. "We're showing them we're one of them. We play baseball, just like they do. We take time out of our schedule to teach them the game, just like it was taught to us when we were kids."

The officers involved in the clinic volunteered their own time Saturday, on their day off from the force.
