Rochester, N.Y. – The Salvation Army provided some early Thanksgiving dinners Sunday afternoon.

It served free meals at three area locations. The annual event was open to everyone.

Marci Orr, captain of the local chapter, said the best part of serving the meals is comforting people who are away from their families for Thanksgiving.

"They're able to have a traditional Thanksgiving with many people and enjoy themselves,” she said, “because it's always hard to make a turkey dinner for one."
