Rochester, N.Y. – Some churchgoers attending St. Mary's noon mass Monday downtown  said they had the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary School in their prayers.

“It's a very difficult thing I think, for all of us, especially the taking of those young lives,” said James Collichio a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church. “It's difficult to comprehend why God does this, but it's really for us to understand that God is with us.”

Associate Rabbi Rebecca Gutterman at Temple B'rith Kodesh says she's noticed seriousness among the parishioners.

“It's clearly at the forefront of everyone's minds,” said Rabbi Gutterman. “People's hearts are broken and people are bewildered. I think people are really seeking out an opportunity to speak to each other among their temple family.”
