Albany, N.Y. - After a tragic boating accident earlier this month killed three children, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is pushing for larger boats to have posted boat capacities.
"Believe it or not, all boats under 20 feet do have capacity limits, so it boggles the mind why boats over 20 feet don't,” Schumer said.
The 34-foot boat that sank off Cove Neck, Long Island, was carrying 27 passengers.
Investigators are still looking into the accident.
