Seneca County, N.Y. - Five Points Correctional Facility is on lockdown after a riot over the weekend.

The prison is about 20 miles south of Geneva.

Officers at the prison tried to break up a fight between inmates late Sunday night. We're told some of the inmates started to assault the staff -- leading officers to use canisters of tear gas to get it under control.

Six officers were hurt; two of them had to go to the hospital for treatment but are expected to be OK.

Eight inmates have been transferred to other correctional facilities in the state.

The lockdown is expected to last through the end of the week.
