Rochester, N.Y. – Emergency crews responded to reports of people stuck in a cave Tuesday afternoon on Seth Green Drive in Rochester.

Three hikers, a mother, father, and son, were exploring a nearby cave where they were searching for rocks. They were in an enclosed area when Tuesday's storm hit, and did not hear the rain.

Shortly after, water began to rise, at one point reaching their waists.

Firefighters set up a rope rescue to reach the family trapped in the cave.

The 24-year-old-female was taken first.

All three hikers have been rescued safely.
