Albany, N.Y. - The highest level sex offenders who grow a new beard or a get a new hair color will now have to have a new photo taken to go along with their new look.
The new picture will then be sent to the state's sex offender registry which can be viewed online by the public.
The photo rule is part of a new state law just signed by the governor.
“For us to be more attentive to the people offending our children is a good thing,” said Mary Whittier of the Bivona Child Advocacy Center. “They've broken the law, they've harmed children. So anything that keeps our children safer is a good thing.”
