FORT DRUM, N.Y. (AP) - A member of the Army's 10th Mountain Division is being honored as the USO's volunteer of the year.

Officials at Fort Drum in northern New York say Sgt. Richard Schuh of Riverside, Calif., was selected as the year's top volunteer from among the more than 20,000 military and civilians worldwide who volunteer their time to the USO.

It's the first time a member of the 10th Mountain Division has earned the USO Volunteer of the Year Award.

Schuh will be honored during a ceremony at the post Friday afternoon. Maj. Gen. Mark Milley, Fort Drum's commanding general, will present the sergeant with the Meritorious Service Medal and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

Schuh serves with the division's 4th Battalion, 25th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
