Fairport, N.Y. – A Fairport man was taken into custody Tuesday night after allegedly shooting at police.

Fairport Police Chief Maureen Chisholm says police responded to a home on Monroe St. for a possible mental health situation. When they arrived, Chisholm says the man shot at police officers several times through the door.

The officers shot back but did not hit him.

The man then allegedly came outside with multiple weapons and proceeded to shoot at the officers.

Officers were able to overtake the man quickly and get the weapons away from him.

Neighbors were told to stay inside while the situation was happening.

No one was injured.
