Wheatland, N.Y. – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a man was found on Smith Road in Wheatland with an apparent gunshot wound.
The incident was called into police around 4 p.m. Monday.
Police say it appears the victim was shot once in the side. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and police say his injury does not appear to be life-threatening.
Smith Road is blocked off from Union Street to Wheatland Center Road.
Police are searching the area by helicopter.
They are also looking for a green vehicle similar to a Ford Explorer that was seen in the area.
