New York - Several New York lawmakers are sponsoring a bill that would make it illegal to smoke in a car with a child.

Under the proposed law, it would become a crime to light a smokeable substance while a child under the age of 14 is in the vehicle.

The bill is being reviewed in committee and could be brought to the Assembly floor later this year.
