Spencerport, N.Y. – The Route 259 bridge over the Erie Canal closed Saturday for the first of five consecutive weekends of repairs.
The bridge will be closed from 7 a.m. on Saturdays until 6 p.m. on Sundays while repairs are made to deteriorating structural steel components.
The sidewalk along the bridge will also be closed. Detours will be posted. Repairs are expected to be finished in March, depending on weather conditions.
