Rochester, N.Y. - Monroe County announced Friday that it's participating in a statewide DWI crackdown from Friday through Monday.

Police usually see a rise in impaired driving on St. Patrick's Day weekend.

"While the STOP-DWI Program has led to significant reductions in the number of fatal drunk driving crashes, there are still too many lives being lost because of crashes caused by drunk drivers," said Brooks.  "Through aggressive targeting and strict enforcement, Monroe County will keep our roads safe and free from impaired drivers this St. Patrick's Day weekend so we can all celebrate safely."
