ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed laws to have high-level sex offenders' photographs updated every 90 days and ensure their parole transcripts are shared with mental health officials considering possible civil confinement.

Another new law requires notifying police when a licensed health care provider faces disciplinary investigation for sexual misconduct.

New York has 8,452 sex offenders designated Level 3, the highest risk of committing another offense.

They must update their addresses in person every 90 days, with their photographs and addresses posted on a state website and shared with police.

The state has 229 offenders in civil confinement.

Corrections Commissioner Brian Fischer says Thursday photographs will be updated also for lower-level sex offenders on parole.

New York recorded 5,471 arrests for sex offenses last year, including 2,596 in New York City.
