Rochester, N.Y. - While visiting Rochester Monday, Senator Chuck Schumer called for a tougher law that bans the sale of K2 spice and other synthetic drugs.
The proposed legislation is designed to prevent drug makers from tweaking their products to avoid federal bans.
The drugs can lead to seizures, hallucinations, high blood pressure, rapid heart rate, and panic attacks, as well as dangerous and erratic behavior.
Rochester doctors like Dr. Timothy Wiegand of Strong Hospital said they are seeing more people come in for treatment after abusing these drugs.
