Greece, N.Y.- The Monroe County Economic Development Agency approved $3.6 million in abatements Tuesday to redevelop the Greece Ridge Center Mall.

The second phase of the project involves the acquisition and redevelopment of the 145,000 square foot Bon Ton site into an outdoor environment with full service restaurants and retail stores.

Bon Ton announced in November it’s leaving the Rochester market and agreed to sell its three stores.

Mall owners are planning to build 27,000 square feet of restaurants and small shops, which will be similar to the most recent expansion of Eastview Mall.

The $12 million project is projected to create 136 jobs.

Other tax breaks COMIDA approved Tuesday:

-More than $619,000 for Bryant and Stratton College to create a new 33,000 square foot facility on Long Pond Road in the town of Greece.  Monroe County says construction on the college will start in April and open in 2013.
-The Strathallan Hotel on East Avenue in the city of Rochester will undergo more than $10 million in renovations. Once the project is complete, the hotel will become the Strathallan Hotel a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.
