13WHAM-TV/AP - Millions of Americans are traveling on planes, trains and cars this holiday.

In a Thanksgiving-travel forecast, the American Automobile Association predicts that over 40 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home between November 21 and November 25.

AAA advises drivers to leave because so many will be on the highway on Thanksgiving day.

On the West Coast, a protest by airport workers is expected to cause delays and inconvenience for many.

The auto club says the pent-up demand for travel which followed the recession appears to have dissipated.

The predicted increase in travel this Thanksgiving is .7 percent, compared with gains of .8 percent in 2010 and .6 percent a year ago.
