Rochester, N.Y. - The fifth day of the Xerox Rochester Jazz Festival boasts a combo of urban funk, Scottish saxophone and guitar music.
Big Sam’s Funky Nation spreads urban funk at the Harro East at 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
Scottish Saxophonist Tommy Smith and his band lay on the acid jazz when Tommy Smith and KARMA play at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Xerox Auditorium at Xerox Plaza.
Tuesday night’s headliner, Zappa Plays Zappa, features Dweezil Zappa playing the music of his father, Frank, at 8 p.m. at Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theatre.
Tickets are still available.
Dweezil Zappa has worked in the studio for the last year, developing his own style. “In order for me to play my father's music correctly I needed to understand the fundamentals of his music more thoroughly, which meant a lot of studying."
