CAIRO (AP) - Thousands gathered in Cairo's Tahrir Square to protest Saturday's verdicts by an Egyptian court.

Ousted leader Hosni Mubarak was sentenced to life in prison for failing to stop the killing of protesters last year, but he and his sons were acquitted of corruption.

Mubarak's lawyer says he plans on appealing the ruling.

According to Amnesty International, 840 people died and more than 6,000 were injured in last year's 18-day uprising.
