Newstead, N.Y. – One person died on Interstate 90 when they were ejected from a cargo van and pinned under the van.
State Police said the cargo van either slowed down or stopped in one of the westbound lanes around 10:28 p.m. Wednesday.
A tractor trailer hit the cargo van, causing both vehicles to roll over.
State Police said the driver of the cargo van died at the scene.
Investigators said the cargo van did not have lights on at the time of the crash.
The dump-truck style truck was hauling 15 aluminum cylinders weighing about 44,000 pounds.
The truck driver was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
State Police have not released the name of the van driver who died or the truck driver's name.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
