Batavia, N.Y. (AP) – Authorities say a 42-year-old man faces various charges after he led state troopers on a chase on the Thruway that lasted for more than 40 miles across two counties before police stopped his vehicle.

State police say the chase began around 10:45 p.m. Monday in Interstate 90's westbound lanes when a trooper tried to pull over a motorist driving 102 miles per hour near the Pembroke exit in Genesee County.

The man continued driving before making a U-turn at the Williamsville toll barrier just east of Buffalo. The driver headed east on I-90 and drove another 30 miles before leaving the highway at the Batavia exit.

Officials say police used spike strips to deflate his tired, but he rammed a trooper car before other police cars boxed him in.

The man's name hasn't been released.
