Syracuse, N.Y. - A public hearing on toll hikes for trucks on the Thruway will take place Friday, August 17, in Syracuse.

The Thruway's director wants to raise truck tolls by 45 percent.

He says New York’s rates are lower than those in nearby states and that trucks cause more damage to the roadways.

Trucking companies say that increase could push up consumer prices because toll hikes would result in higher shipping costs.
