Albany, N.Y. - New York's State Senate has passed a bill that creates felony charges for wrong-way and other reckless drivers.
There are dozens of recent examples of fatal crashes caused by drivers going the wrong way, or weaving in and out of traffic.
If the bill becomes becomes law, felony reckless driving would be punishable by a prison sentence of up to four years, and misdemeanor reckless driving charges would carry a fine of up to a year in jail.
The bill is now headed to the State Assembly.
