Gates, N.Y. - A trial date has been set for a former Gates-Chili basketball coach charged with rape.
Back in February, police arrested Monte Nowden for allegedly engaging in sex acts with a high school student at the Tinseltown movie theater in Gates.
In court Friday, the judge set the trial date for July 9.
Nowden is also facing charges for allegedly violating an order of protection.
In May, police stopped Nowden for making an unlawful stop in his vehicle. Police said he was with a teenage girl; the same girl for whom the order of protection was issued.
Nowden will return to court July 6 for a pre-trial hearing.
