Byron, N.Y.- After 47 years, a man from Genesee County has learned a turtle he discovered on his family’s farm in Pennsylvania is still alive.
Jeff Cokeley, of Byron, was 13 years old when he found the Eastern Box turtle in 1965. He carved his initials and date into the turtle’s shell and then let it go.
Last week, Cokeley got a call from his father saying he found the turtle on the farm. He kept it for a few days and then released it into the wild.
