Gorham, N.Y. - A Mother and her 3-year-old son were injured in a jet ski crash in Canandaigua Lake Wednesday afternoon, according to a witness.

Kerry Pierson and her boy slammed into a cement barrier at the lake's edge.

Matt McCarthy was one of the first to the scene on Thorndale Beach on the northeast side of the lake around 2 p.m.

As he approached, he saw a small boy floating face down in the water. He pulled the boy out and placed him on the dock.

"He had a bad head injury and was missing most of his teeth," McCarthy said. "He then coughed up some water and blood and started breathing again."

McCarthy says the boy's mother had been thrown close to the house. He says she was delirious.

Mercy Flight transported both victims to Strong Memorial Hospital. Kerry Pierson is in guarded condition at 8 a.m. Thursday, according to Strong. Her son's condition is not known at this time.
