Caledonia, N.Y.- Caledonia Police arrested two men after a fight behind “Q’s” Restaurant in the village last week that seriously injured one man.  One of the men involved is also awaiting sentencing for a fatal hit and run crash in Rochester last year.

Police say on March 22, Austin Costrino’s father called them to say his son had been injured in a fight the night before. He said his son was at Strong Hospital with skull fractures and injuries to his face.

Police determined that Costrino, 26, of Holley and Matthew Norstrand, of Batavia got into an argument on March 21.

Police say Costrino pulled out a knife before getting into his car. Police say he then drove back to where Norstrand was and they continued to argue.  Police say Norstrand got out a tire iron and hit Costrino several times.

Costrino is charged with second-degree menacing. Matthew Norstrand, of Batavia is charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The Monroe County District Attorney's office says Norstrand is the same man who was convicted in February of a fatal hit and run crash.

Norstrand hit and killed Richard Strapp on East Main Street in Rochester last March.

Norstrand is awaiting his sentence, which could be two and a third years to seven years in prison.
