If he dind't know the seriousnes, why did he have a gun. Was he thinking bubbles came out the barrel? This is CRAP! The kid knew exactly what he was doing. He is a lowlife that we are paying for to suck on our welfare teets. Now we will pay for the jail cell he will call home. BOO HOO for mom.

He didn't know the "seriousness" of shooting someone in the back of the head!? Whatever you need to tell yourself to get through the day lady. Sounds like mother and son are sharing one brain cell! I hope he gets the max to send a message to anyone else out there who may not know the "seriousness" of shooting someone in the back of the head.

Give me a break, JonsMom. O, boo-hoo, poor wittle Tyquan. Listen, he's a violent little punk-thug. This is only the beginning of his criminal career, and what a start it is! No petty juvenile antics for Mr. Tyquan, no sir! Right to the hard stuff - shooting an officer in the BACK of the head! Bi-poilar or not (getting a diagnosis of mental illness these days is like getting a cavity filled at the dentist office)he KNEW that what he was doing was wrong before, during and after the commission of this cowardly act. I'll shed no tears for him.

I do not think Tyquan ever got 24 hour supervision. He lived in the city streets most of the time. His mother could have called authorities to come and get him. There was a warrant out for his arrest. The mother did not care and did nothing. The result is a shooting.

To those that do not think Childhood Bipolar is a serious mental illness may I suggest you do a little more research on the subject. While I sympathize with the Mom as far as Tyquan not taking his meds I also think that she should have had him MHA'd over and over and over again till he realized that he NEEDS his meds. Children with BIPOLAR are not normal children to parent and require 24 hours a day supervision!

Seriously. He should be handled like any other violent no concience soul-less rabid dog. Disposed of as easily and cheaply as possible to save taxpayer dollars and resources that are being thrown away on this waste of life. Enough said.

Really? Not a monster? This boy shot an officer in the back of the head. Monster is one the nicest way of putting it.The fact that he only faces 5 1/2 to 15 years is one of the biggest unjustices I am still in shock.According to neighbors in the area your son was a totall menace to everyone. Get real!!!!

SB1948 - from what I have read and understand a PINS is put in place through the courts when all other actions have failed. That means the kid no longer lives in the parent or guardians home. I believe thats where St Joseph Vista came in. Believe it or not they could also make the parent pay support. In any case when the kid ran away from the home there was a warrant issued for the kids arrest which was never executed and had been issued for several months. They found that out after the kid turned himself in for shooting the police officer. Anyone else out there feel free to add to this little bit I know.

Time for me to stop sitting back...No matter what the excuse is...he did it and is guilty...end of story. Even if this kid gets the Max...which he won't cause our system is screwed up...it's not enough. He will go and learn to be a better criminal...he will come out bigger..stronger...and mad at the world. When you lock him up...lose the keys. And his mom should share some responsibility for her beast

What exactly does PINS mean? I know it stands for "person in need of supervision", but beyond that - what does it involve? What is the punishment for violating the terms of it?
