Washington D.C. - One cabinet member who did not attend the State of the Union address Tuesday night was University of Rochester grad and outgoing Energy Secretary Stephen Chu.
Chu was designated as the survivor. One is chosen every year for the State of the Union address.
Someone in the president's cabinet watches the speech elsewhere so they can lead should a catastrophe happen in the House chamber.
