Rochester, N.Y. - Students at the University of Rochester are attempting to break the world record for the longest line of tacos.

Students lined up 1,036 tacos side-by-side and filled them with traditional toppings including meat, beans, lettuce and tomato.

To break the record, the taco shells must be in a single line, with the edges of each taco touching the next one in line. Each tortilla must have a minimum of one filling and must be entirely edible.

"I think this is a lot of fun," said student Scott Strenger.  "They’ve been blasting some music.  We’re throwing down the tacos; I’m having a good time, my friends are too so- it’s gonna be fun."

"Our goal is constantly to build school spirit," said student Nick Lewandowskin.  "And we thought one of the best ways to do that were kind of bring the students together in a task that could kind of make a name for the University of Rochester do something that was really meaningful at the hands of the students."

Currently, the University of Michigan holds the Guinness World Record with 853 tacos.
