Rochester, N.Y. - United Way of Greater Rochester announced that $27,857,936 was raised during the 2012 campaign, surpassing their $25.5 million goal.
Also announced at the event was the selection of Joel Seligman, President of the University of Rochester, as the 2013 campaign chair.
“It has been inspiring for me to see so many great people care for our community and give back to make a huge difference,” said Rob Sands, 2012 United Way Campaign Chair and President and CEO of Constellation Brands. “This campaign was a success because so many Rochesterians chose to get up, get involved and give what they could.”
United Way’s annual allocations will be announced later this summer.
A $100,000 challenge grant from Constellation Brands and a $500,000 challenge grant from the ESL Charitable Foundation garnered more than $1.5 million new and increased gifts to the Community Fund.
