Albany, N.Y. - New York Governor Andrew Cuomo voiced frustration Thursday with the work of utility companies following Hurricane Sandy.
At the peak of the storm, 2.1 million customers in New York state lost power. As of Monday afternoon, one week after the storm, 480,000 homes remained in the dark.
Cuomo said the utility companies will be held accountable for their storm response. He said the utilities are paid to provide a service, and that they have not provided that service.
"The progress is unacceptable," Cuomo said. "To say that I am angry, to say that I am frustrated, disappointed, would be the understatement of the decade. I think the utility companies have not performed adequately. I have let them know that."
