Rochester, N.Y. - More than 50 University of Rochester students took a break from their studies to gather in a common area to watch the debate between President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney.

The viewing party was organized by students through U of R's Committee for Political Engagement.

The group, a mixture of Democrats and Republicans, occasionally added some applause or a light laugh, but for the most part they watched quietly and intently from start to finish.

"I thought it was an evenly matched debate ... I thought Obama, though, had more specifics," said Jenny Hansler, a sophomore and a Democrat.

"It's nice to see statistics and specifics ... Mitt Romney performed well and it was nice to see substance," said Duncan Graham, a sophomore and Republican.

The same organization will throw another party for the vice presidential debate next week.
