Livingston County, N.Y. --- For the last two decades voters in Livingston County grew accustomed to Tom Moran as their District Attorney but with Moran’s election to the New York State Supreme Court last year the seat became up for grabs.

Moran’s top assistant Eric Schiener, a Republican, is among those vying for the job after he left the office in May when Gov. Andrew Cuomo appointed a Democrat to fill the vacancy left by Moran’s departure.

Acting D.A. Greg McCaffrey was the Governor’s appointment and he is seeking election to a full-term while running on the Democrat and Independence Party lines.

Then there is Steve Sessler, a former Livonia Town Judge and military prosecutor who is challenging Schiener in the Republican Party Primary election next week.  Sessler, who also secured the Conservative Party nomination, boasts experience in private practice as well.
