Wayne County Cocaine Ring Leader Sentenced

Wayne County/New York City – The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Monday the sentencing of a New York City man who was the leader of a group of cocaine distributors in Wayne County.

Richard Crego was sentenced to 13 years in prison and 10 years supervised release for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and the distribution of five kilograms or more of cocaine.

A state and federal investigating into the drug ring began in November 2010. Using wire tapping and search warrants, the investigation netted over 1.9 kg of powder cocaine, 15 grams of crack cocaine, distribution paraphernalia, a 12 gauge shotgun, a .22 caliber rifle, a .25 caliber pistol, a 9mm pistol, and over $32,000.

Crego was arrested in 2011.
