Gananda, N.Y.—Residents in Wayne County worked on cleaning up the damage caused by powerful winds Tuesday afternoon.
The Gananda area was hit especially hard as a microburst knocked down several trees and even snapped road signs in two.
Resident Don Alo had at least six large trees fall into his yard.
“I was upstairs and all of a sudden, I heard something hit the house,” he says. “We never get anything like [this storm]. I knew something was wrong.”
Many trees were uprooted by the winds, landing on houses, cars and crashing into yards.
Paul Leiss’ home was severely damaged when a tree fell onto his house.
“The roof is split, the ceiling is split and water is coming through the ceiling,” says Leiss. “The windows are broken and water is coming through the floor boards to the basement.”
There are no reports of injuries at this time.
