Webster, N.Y.- A local teacher is raising the roof for a good cause this week.
If you drive down Ridge Road in Webster, you might be wondering what’s up at Webster Schroeder High School. The answer is Paul Valenti.
For the second year in a row, students persuaded the health teacher to sit on the roof of the school as part of their senior project, to raise money for the Mt. Hope Family Center. The center helps children and families of violence and trauma improve their lives.
Valenti camped out on the Schroeder roof last year as well.
“It feels different from last year. Maybe I’m trying to block out last year with two feet of snow," Valenti said. “But it's cold. It's a delicate dance- you have to keep moving but you don't want to sweat- cause then you will get cold- so I try to walk around. "
Every dollar raised equals one minute Valenti will stay on the roof. The goal this year is 48 hours.
