Webster, N.Y. - A Webster Thomas High School Social Studies teacher has been named New York’s Teacher of the Year.
The New York State Board of Regents announced Wednesday afternoon that Gregory Ahlquist has been named the 2013 New York State Teacher of the Year.
Ahlquist has been teaching in Webster for 12 years. He currently teaches advanced placement world history and European history courses.
"Teachers like Gregory Ahlquist give selflessly to their students and communities everyday," Commissioner John King said. "Great teachers help make great students, and Gregory Ahlquist is one of those great teachers."
