Collegeville, P.A. – It was quite a scene at the Wegmans opening this Columbus Day Weekend in Pennsylvania.
An estimated 1,500 people lined up to get their first glimpse of the store’s new Collegeville location on Sunday.
A Philadelphia Inquirer reporter described the opening as “a social phenomenon.”
The 132,000 sq. ft. store includes a full-service restaurant inside the Market Café, with seating for about 300 customers. The new store also features a working fireplace, as part of its cozy “Timber Room.”
Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. currently owns and operates 74 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland.
