Brighton, N.Y. - Brighton Town Board members approved a plan Wednesday night to allow the Henrietta Fire District to provide fire coverage to the West Brighton Fire District.

Over the summer, residents voted to dissolve the West Brighton Fire District, and contract with the Rochester Fire Department to cover fires and other emergencies.

The vote on Wednesday night is only a preliminary step to shift control. A public hearing on the issue is set for April 10.
