Canandaigua, N.Y. - The wife of a missing Ontario County man has been charged with the murder of her husband.

Rose Chase is charged with second degree murder in the death of her husband, Adam Chase, on June 14th at their home on Mott Road in Stanley.

She was arraigned in Canandaigua City Court Friday morning.  She's being held in the Ontario County Jail without bail.

At a press conference Friday morning, Sheriff Phil Povero told reporters, Rose Chase admitted she killed her husband by pushing him down the stairs. She also told police she acted alone.

Rose then admitted to police she transported Adam Chase's body to property at her mother's house in Yates County - where his body was dismembered and cremated.

Chase was last seen by his wife the morning of June 14th according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said in June that a discussion between Chase and his wife, Rose, turned into an argument and Adam Chase walked away from his home.

On Thursday night, investigators focused on two scenes. At one unspecified location, deputies found what they believe to be human remains, but did not immediately identify them.

Adam Chase's family had hired a private investigator to help in the search for him. Police say the investigator had a converstaion with Rose Chase, which led to the tip about the house and the body.
