Irondequoit, N.Y. - Emergency crews say a woman crashed her car into a fire hydrant and light post on Thomas Avenue around 12:30 Wednesday morning.
It took about a half hour to cut her out of the car.
She was taken to Rochester General Hospital with injuries considered to be non life-threatening. Firefighters say it could have been much worse.
"I think driving a large vehicle helped that woman live today,” said St. Paul District Chief Don Macher. “Anything smaller with that damage to that vehicle and I don't think she would have made it."
It’s unknown at this time whether the driver will face charges.
