Washington, D.C. - Injured West Webster firefighter Ted Scardino is in the nation's capital to testify before a bipartisan group of three members of Congress Tuesday on gun trafficking prevention.
Representive Elija Cummings invited Scardino, among other law enforcement officials, to speak at the forum titled "Victims and First Responders: The Crticial Need for Gun Trafficking Legislation."
Scardino was wounded in the hand and shoulder in an ambush on December 24. Joseph Hofstetter was also wounded. Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka were killed in the attack.
Police said the weapon used by the shooter, William Spengler, was bought by someone else to avoid a criminal background check, which is known as a straw purchase.
