Rochester, NY - A Downtown grocer in Rochester wants to expand.

Abundance Cooperative Market is looking to relocate within the City of Rochester.

Abundance is the city’s first and only cooperatively-owned natural products retail grocer and it’s outgrowing its current space on Marshall Street.

In a statement Wednesday Jim DeLuca, General Manager of Abundance Cooperative Market said, “We are hoping to meet more of the needs of our shoppers and owners by really expanding our produce, deli, bakery, and meat departments.  Plus. we want to offer health and nutrition classes as well as cooking classes.  We would love to create a state of the art green energy store which would move Abundance along the path to achieve our goal of sustainability.”

The market first opened to the public in 2001, but its history spans more than forty years, beginning with the Genesee Co-Op Natural Foodstore on Monroe Avenue in 1968.

Abundance Cooperative Market hired Flaum Management Company to help with the expansion.
